I have been saying that orange is the new black, since my jacket is orange. Turns out the new black is quite ubiquitous. Red, yellow, pink, green, purple, dachshunds and David Beckham all vie for the title of the new black (along with many, many other contenders.)
Under G.W. Bush and a Republican-dominated Congress and Senate, there are more babies dying at the expense of the taxpayers, there are more homosexual proponents of gay marriage being elevated to positions of government leadership, the central government is getting larger and Constitutional rights are being undermined even more than under Clinton. Conservatives have been betrayed by Bush’s rhetoric, and have not judged him by his fruit.
So do me a favor and don’t vote for him. Thnx.
These are the awards for best lefty blogs, and it’s a decent guide to some good reading. The most humorous post award goes to this post from Atrios. This image was originally the disciplinary sheet for the kid in Lafayette, LA who got in trouble for telling another kid that his parents were gay. It was turned, with humorous effect, into a press disciplinary sheet from around the time of the presidential trip to Iraq. Check it:

Jimmy Breslin lets loose on Bloomberg. I’ve been known to defend him in the past, but I’m afraid Jimmy’s right in this case. A sampling:
Bloomberg is supposed to fight for this city and instead he acts like he is afraid of Bush and these other Republicans. Simultaneously, and worse, he acts like he wants to be one of them. He crowed over bringing the Republican convention to New York. It will put people in hotel rooms, he says. Beautiful! We count money while some young guy from the Bronx gets his head blown off.
I guess I should also mention that I have been redesigning the site. I just switched it over to the new design but the archives aren’t really done yet. Hopefully I’ll get it all done soon. I tested the site in IE6 and Netscape 7 for Windows and also most Mac browsers and it all looked pretty good. Let me know if there are any problems.
As I write, the Newfoundland has just won Best in Show. What a great dog. I’ve never really been a fan of this breed but he really won me over. Yesterday I took Eliza to the first day of the show at Madison Square Garden, and we had a blast. We went backstage and played with all kinds of dogs. Unfortunately, the dachshunds were today but we did get to meet some pugs, mastiffs, siberian huskies and bulldogs. Today’s Photo of the Day is of a Komondor we met that greeted Eliza with a big matted tail to the face. A photographer from the Baltimore Sun took a picture of her hugging a bichon frise. She celebrated by coming home to a long nap.
